Jianfeng Zhou

Zhou’s research goal is on the development and implementation of emerging technologies for crop and animal productions. His current research focuses on the integration of sensing, robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the efficiency of management, production and cost in crops and animals. Some of the specific research objectives include:

  • Unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) for autonomous field data collection and high throughput phenotyping (HTP)
  • Robotics and AI for Precision Agriculture (PA) and Precision Livestock Farming (PLF)
  • Mechanical and automation (robotic) technologies for tree-fruit and row crop management and harvesting
  • Proximal and unmanned aerial system (UAS)-based remote sensing system for crop scouting and water, nutrition and soil management
  • Internet-of-things (IoT)-based data-driven decision support system for precision crop and livestock management
  • Big data driven agricultural systems management
