Blessing is a researcher in precision agriculture and crop quality sensing, focused on understanding what drives variation in soybean grain composition at the sub-field scale. He integrates aerial imagery, in-field soil sensing, and geophysical mapping to connect soil and canopy dynamics to end-use grain quality.

Research Focus: Blessing’s research centers on predicting and explaining within-field variability in soybean protein and oil content using precision agriculture sensing. His work combines UAV multispectral imagery to identify the phenological windows when grain quality is determined, continuous in-situ soil moisture monitoring to resolve the temporal patterns of water availability that drive the protein–oil tradeoff, and soil electrical conductivity mapping to separate stable soil structural properties from seasonal moisture dynamics. Together these contribute to site-specific management strategies for improving soybean grain quality.
